Daughenbaugh Open Space Parking Lot Project CompletedThe Daughenbaugh Open Space parking lot resurfacing project is complete. Improvements included resurfacing and grading the weathered aggregate lot, installing timber curbing as retaining structures, installing a new fence and a bollard to prevent illegal vehicle access, and making site upgrades to improve safety, accessibility, and long-term durability. These updates create a smoother, safer experience for visitors and support continued use of the area. We appreciate the public's patience throughout the project and hope the end result is enjoyed. |

Sharing our Open Space with Coyotes The Open Space Division has received questions about coyote activity and would like to share helpful information. Coyotes live throughout Louisville Open Space and along the Front Range. They are most active at dawn and dusk, though daytime sightings are common. To help residents stay safe and coexist with wildlife, the City offers resources on our website with guidance about preventing conflicts and responding to coyote encounters. Colorado Parks and Wildlife also provides reliable information at https://cpw.state.co.us/living-coyotes If you notice concerning coyote behavior, please report it using the City’s online Coyote Report Form, or contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife directly. For any life-threatening situation, call 9-1-1. Concerning coyote behavior may include: - Aggressive behavior such as growling, baring teeth, or lunging
- Attempting to bite or nip at people, pets, or livestock
- Being fed intentionally or unintentionally by people
- A coyote that is so sick it can no longer move (seeing coyotes with varying degrees of mange is common and not usually a cause for concern)
Reports help staff and wildlife officials respond appropriately and protect both people and wildlife. |
