Comprehensive Plan Update to be reviewed by Council on March 24After a year and a half of community engagement, planning, and research by city staff and consultants, we are almost at the finish line for the Comprehensive Plan! After further Council and community input in January, the Planning Commission recommended Council approval of the draft plan. City Council will obtain further public input and then discuss and vote on the final draft at the March 24, 2026 City Council meeting. MYTH vs. FACT We've heard some rumors and misconceptions about the Comprehensive Plan, specifically around population and growth. MYTH: “The Comprehensive Plan calls for 50% population growth.” FACT: The Comprehensive Plan does not set a growth target or approve development. It identifies where housing could be considered in the future, including opportunities to address the housing need identified in the City’s adopted Louisville Housing Plan. The housing numbers referenced in the plan are planning assumptions, not forecasts or goals, and help the City plan for infrastructure and services over time. Any future housing proposals would still require public hearings and City Council approval, with impacts on neighborhoods, infrastructure, and services evaluated case-by-case. |
