Schedule your water meter replacement

Business Owners: Schedule Your Water Meter Replacement

We're replacing every water meter in Louisville, including commercial meters, and we need your help to keep the project moving.

Many commercial buildings have large water meters or unique meter situations, so scheduling ahead helps ensure the replacement is completed with as little disruption to your business as possible. If your business cannot accommodate a water shutoff during normal operating hours, let the scheduling team know—they'll work with you to find a time that best fits your operations. Some large commercial properties also have bypass loops that allow the meter to be replaced without interrupting water service.

Appointments are required for most businesses. A business owner or another adult must be present during the replacement, and technicians will need safe, clear access to the water meter.

Replacing every meter with new smart technology will improve billing accuracy, help identify leaks sooner, and provide better data to support Louisville's future water system planning. Please schedule your appointment as soon as possible to reserve a time that works for your business.

Choose an appointment time that works best for you online or by phone.

Take Advantage of Enterprise Zone Tax Credits

As of January 1, 2026, a majority of Louisville is located within the North Metro Enterprise Zone.

In designated enterprise zones:

  • Businesses are eligible for state income tax credits and sales and use tax exemptions for specific business investments.
  • Local governments and nonprofits may establish contribution projects to support economic development goals.
  • Taxpayers who contribute to enterprise zone projects may earn income tax credits.

Businesses must pre-certify to take advantage of the credits available through the program. While a majority of Louisville is now located within the zone, small portions were not eligible for inclusion. More information about the program, maps of included areas, and pre-certification requirements can be found at the link below.
