Is your business located in an urban renewal area?

Thinking about improving your property or growing your business? If you're located within one of Louisville’s Urban Renewal Areas, you may qualify for financial assistance through the Louisville Revitalization Commission (LRC), the City of Louisville’s Urban Renewal Authority. LRC programs can help support façade upgrades, property improvements, infrastructure projects, and redevelopment efforts that contribute to a vibrant and thriving community.

Examples of eligible projects may include:
• Building façade and storefront improvements
• Site and property upgrades
• Infrastructure enhancements that support business activity
• Redevelopment of underutilized or vacant properties
• Landscaping, signage, and streetscape improvements
• Business expansion and investment projects

Louisville accepting Short-term Rental License Applications 

The City of Louisville is allowing short-term rentals (STRs) during the annual Sundance Film Festival (January 11, 2027 through February 9, 2027). Eligible properties may be rented for stays of 29 days or fewer during dates established annually by City Council.

If you're interested in renting your home during Sundance, you must apply for a Short-term Rental License on our website. Owners and renters with owner authorization can apply for a license.

All residential property types within Louisville are eligible to apply for a license, including single-family homes, condos, apartments, townhomes, mobile homes, and ADUs. A Temporary Short-Term Rental License is required before advertising or renting a property.

Extended Application Timeline: Commercial Sustainability Rebate

The City of Louisville’s Commercial Sustainability Rebate (CSR) is still available to all Louisville businesses.    

We have decided to extend the rebate applications until Friday, August 7, 2026.   

If you are a Louisville business, have a sustainability minded project, and need some funding to make it happen, consider the Commercial Sustainability Rebate.   

The program is designed to support business-led investments in waste reduction, energy efficiency, decarbonization, water conservation, and circular economy initiatives while ensuring fairness, administrative efficiency, and measurable environmental outcomes. Proposed projects will be reviewed with a lens enhancing sustainability, preventing or diverting waste, and increasing environmental stewardship.  

A total of 10 competitive rebate offerings is available:  

  • Five $1,000 rebates  
  • Three $5,000 rebates  
  • Two $10,000 rebates  

Application Timeline  

  • March 2, 2026: Application opens  
  • August 7, 2026: Application closes  
  • August 10-14, 2026: Review of applications  
  • August 17, 2026: Awards made and awardees notified

Business Assistance Program

City Council recently approved a Business Assistance Program update that:

  • Gives small retail/restaurants (<3,000 sq ft) faster administrative approval
  • Provides a 5-year tiered rebate (90-70-50-30-10%) averaging 50%
  • Raises admin approval limit from $50K to $100K
  • Continues performance-based incentives like permit fee, sales tax, and use tax rebates to support business growth and revitalization..

The CU Boulder Buy Local program goal is to connect locally owned businesses with the University of Colorado Boulder faculty, staff, and students to meet the university's needs for purchasing goods and services.

If you are a local business and would like to participate as a vendor in CU Boulder's Buy Local program, please follow the link below for more information and to access the application form. This application will take ~2 minutes to complete. If approved, your businesses will be added as a vendor to the program webpage.

What's in it for businesses:

  • State income tax credits and sales and use tax exemptions for specific business investments.
  • Local governments and nonprofits may establish contribution projects to support economic development goals.
  • Taxpayers who contribute to enterprise zone projects may earn income tax credits.
