Happy 250th Birthday USA! 250 years ago the United States declared its independence, 100 years later Colorado became a state, and 1 year after that Louisville was established in 1877 with the opening of the Welch Mine. Landowner, Louis Nawatny, named the mining town after himself and the town was officially incorporated on June 16, 1882. This year, Colorado celebrates 150 years of statehood and next year Louisville will celebrate 150 years!
Whether your family goes back to the founding of Louisville, has been here 50 years, or less than a year, I think we all know how special our little city is and how lucky we are to live here! So, this summer, show a little Louisville Love to our local businesses who help make the city the vibrant place we call home! |

 | Historic PropertyThe Ostrander House 741 Lincoln Ave This home is one of the few brick historic homes in Louisville. It was built in 1905 in the Pleasant Hill Addition by John or Johann Vieweg and then sold to Mrs. Isabelle Ostrander and her son Albert H. Ostrander in 1906. The mother and son owned and operated the Ostrander Bakery from 1904 until the late 1930s, located on the southwest corner of Main St. and Spruce downtown, which is City Hall today. It was known for its sugar doughnuts, long-johns, lemon pies, jelly rolls, square cakes and bread. This home was occupied by Ostrander family members for 49 years, starting with Isabell and her husband Othello Ostander. In 1910 their son Albert Ostrander and his wife Mabel lived in the home with their daughters Leonora and Shirley. Albert Ostrander passed away in 1939 and Mabel continued to live here until her death in 1954. Ralph and Matilda Thomas owned the house from 1955-1962 as a rental investment and then sold it to Leonard and Clara Lawrence who lived in the house with their 4 children until 1994. The house is currently owned by Gary Dunlap who has done extensive restoration work as well as energy efficiency upgrades.
