Sarah Umbach

About

Sarah Umbach and Don Chia have known each other since Elementary School in Michigan, both growing up and working in their family businesses, Sarah’s Father built a Family Fun Center, and Don's Mother owned a Flower Shop. After both completed Bachelors and Masters degrees, they started their careers in Chicago, Sarah in Television Production and Don in Executive Recruitment. In 2011, they got married and  moved to Los Angeles so Sarah could dive deeper into the entertainment industry where she went on to lead Post Production departments for various production houses and Hollywood studios. She’s most proud of her work on multiple seasons of “The Good Place”, a 14-time Emmy Nominated comedy series.  Don built his early career as an Executive Recruiter placing senior level professionals at a variety of consumer brands including Nike, Google, Patagonia, NBA, Sony, Red Bull and Netflix.  

In 2018, Sarah and Don moved to Singapore both working for Netflix, to support the growth of their Asia-Pacific business. Working at a regional level, they brought their expertise of Hollywood to help hire and set up teams across Japan, S. Korea, India, Southeast Asia and Australia. Their final year abroad was spent in Sydney, Australia where Sarah discovered Studio Pilates, taking fitness classes at their Manly Beach studio.  

After 5-years as Expatriates in Asia, they moved back to the US in 2023 to reconnect with family and friends calling Boulder, Colorado home due to its natural beauty and their love for outdoor recreation.   Sarah prepared for an active winter ski season in Colorado by taking pilates classes, but she wasn’t seeing the exceptional fitness experience she had in Sydney with Studio Pilates. Around this time, Sarah and Don were at a career crossroads, having loved their time working in multinational organizations, but wanting to return to their entrepreneurial roots by starting a business. 

Looking at the gap in the market for Pilates in Superior, it felt like the right time to bring the Studio Pilates franchise to the Front Range of Colorado. They are enthusiastic about opening three Studio Pilates locations in Superior, Boulder, and The Front Range over the next few years. When Sarah and Don aren’t working on their new business venture, you can find them skiing, hiking and enjoying Colorado’s natural beauty with their Bernese Mountain Dogs.
