It is officially fall in Colorado! We hope you’re enjoying the cooler weather and changing leaves. October is packed with opportunities to connect. Join us for Speed Networking with the Superior Chamber on October 14, and don’t forget that Parade of Lights sponsorships are now open and businesses can sign up to become a Friend of Sundance.

There’s plenty happening around town too, including the City’s Trunk or Treat and the annual Halloween Parade on Main Street on October 30.

And look out for our new Discover Louisville page and social media! Remember to add your events, news and offers to your member portal to help us showcase your business.

Help Keep the Parade of Lights Shining!

Parade sponsorships are now open to Chamber members! As event costs continue to rise, your support helps us keep this much-loved Louisville tradition free for our community.

Sponsorship is a great way to showcase your business while playing a direct role in bringing thousands of people together on Main Street.

Be part of the tradition and help us keep Louisville shining!

Members: Please Sign Up to Be a Friend of Sundance

Please note: this is a different form from the vendor form.

If you haven’t already, please sign up to become a Friend of Sundance. This is essential for staying connected and being looped into festival information and opportunities.

We’ve sent several reminders, but Louisville’s sign-ups remain low, so we really encourage our members to get registered. The Chamber is working hard on your behalf, attending all the Sundance regional meetings and preparing for opportunities surrounding the festival.

We’ll be sending a special Sundance activation email soon with more information, opportunities and ways for Louisville businesses to get involved, so keep an eye on your inbox!

ADVOCACY

FEEDBACK REQUEST

The Economic Development Council of Colorado is looking for input regarding an upcoming ballot question. The EDCC is looking for feedback from businesses across the state on how you think Colorado Amendment 87 might impact your business and operations. All responses are confidential and will be aggregated by the EDCC.

About the Survey & Measure:

  • Purpose: Assesses how transitioning Colorado from a flat tax to a graduated income tax structure—allocating an estimated $2–$2.7B annually to K-12 education, healthcare, and early childhood care—may affect business growth, retention, and workforce dynamics.
  • Strict Confidentiality: Responses will be aggregated and reported anonymously. No individual business or respondent will be identified in any public summary without explicit permission.FEEDBACK REQUESTED   - CLICK HERE

CHAMBER ADVOCACY UPDATE  - ELECTION

SUPPORT – City of Louisville Ballot Issue 2B: Historic Preservation Tax

The Chamber supports the continuation of Louisville’s Historic Preservation Tax and its ongoing investment in preserving the historic character, heritage, and identity that make Louisville a distinctive and vibrant place to live, work, visit, and do business.

OPPOSE – Amendment 87: Graduated Income Tax

OPPOSE – Proposition 136: Income Tax Rate Limit

Both statewide measures propose significant changes to Colorado’s tax policy. The Chamber’s opposition reflects concern that there was not sufficient engagement with the business community in the development of these initiatives before they were placed on the ballot.

We believe significant changes to tax policy should be developed through a thoughtful and collaborative process that includes meaningful input from Colorado businesses and employers.

These are the only ballot measures on which the Louisville Chamber has adopted a position at this time.

LIGHT UP HOPE: Since 2012, Light Up Hope has grown from school sponsorships into a full-scale mission to break the cycle of poverty in Kenya, supporting students from primary school through university with mentorship, counseling, and career pathways that help them thrive, not just graduate. In 2022, the organization expanded to address climate change in drought-affected Kajiado County, now feeding over 85,000 students daily and helping pastoral families build sustainable livelihoods. By 2030, their goal is to serve 50 million school lunches, support 500+ girls through secondary and university education, and help shift cultural attitudes toward female empowerment in the Maasai community.

Women Who Light the Community:

Boulder Chamber Awards

The Chamber team, Board of Directors, and Gillian's family came together for a beautiful night of honoring Gillian and other notable women in the community at the Boulder Chamber's annual signature event, featuring an award ceremony during dinner. Gillian was honored with a Women Who Light the Community Award, recognizing her leadership and contributions to the community. The event honors the extraordinary contributions of businesswomen in the Boulder region, celebrating women who tirelessly drive positive change across the community. Honorees are recognized for significant contributions through innovation and committed efforts to address meaningful business, nonprofit, arts, or community needs whether locally, regionally, nationally, or globally - and are nominated by community members who have witnessed their work and leadership firsthand. Congrats to our Executive Director, Gillian Millar! Well deserved!

The event was so well received that we plan to make this an annual conversation. Keep an eye out for next year’s Leaders Lunch!
